A popular choice for hedging due to its glossy evergreen leaves and relatively fast growing habit. The Prunus laurocerasus, also known as Cherry Laurel, is a fine alternative to conifer hedging. Laurel forms a dense screen or hedge quickly but doesn't mind being cut back, even hard, as it will always shoot again from the old wood. Happy in most spots, even in shade.
